Warm Connectors

Be part of a friendship that makes a difference.

Relationships and personal connections are vital at any age. They enrich our lives, share in our joys and help us through difficult times. However, as we age, changes in circumstance or health can make it hard to maintain relationships or make new ones, leaving many frail older adults alone and isolated.

The JFS Warm Connectors program is designed to cultivate friendships and combat social isolation. Trained volunteers are matched with older adults living in the community and the volunteer “connectors” help create opportunities for their older friend to connect with neighbors, friends, family and the community.

JFS Warm Connectors make a six month commitment to visit with their older friend once a week. Some examples of how Warm Connectors and their older friends spend time together include:

  • Attend a Lunch and Learn
  • Join an exercise class
  • Write letters to family
  • Videocall old friends
  • Walk the mall
  • Go to the movies
  • Host a coffee with neighbors
  • Volunteer in the community
  • Visit the senior center
  • Attend a faith-based service

JFS Warm Connectors reduce social isolation both with regular visits, and by helping their older friend make connections and grow relationships with others.
